Being invited to the Portsmouth Invitational is one of the last achievements of a college student-athletes career. Jared Terrell, Matt Mobley and Tyler Nelson knew that. These three have spent years battling one another on the HS/Prep, AAU and even in college all translated to the hard work that level of competition of competition has played.
Tyler Nelson (Fairfield University) averaged 14.6 points per game to go along with a game winning layup in the title game. Nelson shot 52 percent from the field and 41 percent from deep. Jared Terrell also averaged 14.6 points per page and shot 51 percent from the field. Terrell helped lead his team to a title game appearance. Matt Mobley contributed 11.6 points per game including a 16 point performance in the first contest of the tournament and a 14 point 10 rebound outpouring in his last game.
Nelson earned himself a spot on the all-tournament team. All three players proved that they belonged.
