Lavar Harewood, a 6-foot-3 combo guard who attend the Brooks School has been under the radar, up until now. The Maine Black Bears earned a commitment from Lavar this afternoon.
“Me and Coach (Bob) Walsh spoke about me being under recruited and coming to Maine with a chance to play against those schools that didn’t recruit me,” said Harewood.
Lavar’s competitive nature matches the one of future head coach.
“I have a chip on my shoulder to go at those schools and make them regret not recruiting me,” said Harewood.
An athletic guard with a strong physical body who can really score the ball is how Lavar approached the game a year ago. Harewood who recently wrapped up playing for Sports U on the grassroots circuit, has improved his ball handling and play making ability to make him an asset at either guard position.
