Two New England prep products gave verbal commitments within the past week.
Denzel Gregg, a 6’7 forward by the way of Syracuse, NY gave a verbal commitment to Fordham for the 2013 season. Greg is a starting forward for St. Thomas More in Connecticut, who is a low post presence on bothe ends of the floor. Gregg uses his atleticsm to block shots on the defensive end and rise above his defenders for the finish around the basket on the offensive side.
“Me and my family felt so comfortable at Fordham we just felt like there was no better place to be so why not commit,” Gregg tells HDM. “The coaches told me everyone will be able to compete for their own role on the teamso i just want to work my way in.”
Gregg, who makes his earnings off putbacks and shots from the free throw line down, Knos that theres work to be done.
“I really want to work on getting stronger and extending my range to be a better player all around.”
The second commitment comes from Kurt Steidl, a 6’5 forward out of Ridgefield HS in Connecticut. Earlier in the week Steidl announced his commitment to the University of Vermont.
Steidl explained why the decision to commit this early was a no brainer.
“They will have 6 seniors when i will be a freshman so it’ll give me a good opportunity to get accustomed to college basketball,” Steidl tell HDM. “I will be able to learn the system from them as a freshman which will be very beneficial.”
