Ives To Rider

Kealen Ives made a name for himself over the past couple years in New England as go to lead guard that can score with the best of them. Ives confirmed with Hoop Dreams Magazine that he made a verbal commitment to Rider last weekend.

“I felt at home on the visit” Ives said, “It felt like the place for me.”

The Providence native split time on the AAU circuit playing for Metro Boston, New England Playaz and NYC Jayhawks where he racked up some scholarship offers. After picking up offers from Maine, Rider and even interest from Providence College, Ives stated he was going to decide when he found the right fit.

“Coach Braggett said that they’re not recruiting me to sit on the bench,” said Ives. “I will play and it’s up to me if I start or not.”

Ives, who is currently doing a post graduate year at Putnam Science Academy, is a former Classical HS standout. At Classical, Ives earned Interscholastic League player of the year, consecutive first team All-State honor this season, and also a state title.
