One the final day of play at Hoop Dreams Magazine Prep Classic, was considered the day to be present. With college coaches swarming the event, they got a treat out of each game that was played througout the day. National media outlets where on hand to take in the action, and they two where not disappointed.
Game one of the day included Winchendon Prep (MA) vs St. Pauls School (NH) WP took control as they used there size to gain an advantage,they won 54-38. 6’8 Guard Boris Ulker (2016) was the most impressive prospect finishing with 18 pts, 12 rbs, 6 blks as he has a skill set that translate to a high major prospect. Ulker showed the ability to change the game on the defensive end as well. Malik Mclaren was a spark finishing with 14 pts. St Pauls was led by 6’2 G Ethan Schlager 16 pts.
In a game featuring a slew of international prospects Lee Academy (ME) beats out Jean-De-Bruf(CAN) 6’7 wing Mihalio Vasic finished with 16 pts displayed a diverse set of skills facilitating and knocking down long-range shots. 6’3 Guard Joseph Chartonnay led Jean-De-Bruff(CAN) showed he is an elite level guard with 14 pts, 5 ast.
In a game played with over 30 college coaches in attendance the highly anticipated matchup Believe Prep runs away with a win against Tabor Academy 77-65. 5’7 PG Damontrae Jefferson (2015) made a variety of high level plays finishing with 21 pts, 7 sast 6’5 G Jared Wilson-Frame (2015) was made an immediate impact from behind the arc scoring 17 pts . 6’7 Wing David Burrell (2015) finished with 10 pts, 8 13 rbs was also highly impressive making high major plays above the basket and solidifying himself as a top 100 prospect in the country. Tabor’s 6’7 Forward Jesse Bunting (2015) was the difference maker for Tabor finishing with 19 pts, 14 rbs. Bryce Boggs 15 pts and Miles Wright 14.
In a Prep School classic Vermont Academy edges out Brooks School 48-47. Vermont Academies Bruce Brown led all scorers with 25 pts and a last minute play to win the game. 6’3 guard Lavar Harewood (2015) scored in bunches finishing with 12 pts, 6 rbs 5’10 PG Ikenna Ndugba showed why he is recognized as one of the top point guards in class of 2016 with 17 pts, 10 ast.
Notre Dame Prep dominates from the start beating Macduffie School 73-57. CJ Vaughan with 15 pts., Jarvis Garrett with 15 pts and Dexter Miles had 14 pts. Macduffie was led by the inside presence of 6’11 Jordy Tmichanga (2015) and 5’10 G Brandon Chaisson (2016) 14 pts.
One of the best games of the event, St Mark’s vs Beaver Country Day School, St. Marks PG Marcos Echevarria last second shot at the end of regulationIn an instant classic that went into two overtimes, Beaver Country Day beats St. Marks 63-61. Purdue Commit Jaquil Taylor dominated the interior finishing with 26 pts, 12 rbs 6’1 guard Jeff Spellman shot the ball well from the outside with 19 pts. Marcos Echevarria led St marks with 14 pts. Aaron Mcclean led St. Marks with 13 pts.
