Last week we reported that 6-foot-8 Max Hoetzel picked up an offer from Indiana following an open gym workout that was attended by the hoosier staff. Later on that week Hoetzel scheduled a visit to Indiana’s campus this past weekend. Fast forward to the completion of that visit and Hoetzel is a Hoosier. in less than a weeks time Hoetzel knew in his heart exactly where he wanted to be and just needed a visit to Indiana just to solidify it.
“IU because I fell in love with the school. Coach Crean really believes in me as a player who can score for them,” Hoetzel tells HDM. And because of player development. He sees me as a player like will or victor who weren’t ranked but then came in and shocked everybody. Thinks I have that potential.”
With a decision out the way Hoetzel knows there’s still work to be done.
“I need to add strength, quickness. Finishing with contact and ball handling. “Now I can focus on getting ready for Nepsac and then for indiana. I want to thank my family and everybody back home in calabasas.”
Hoetzel is also grateful for his chance to play in the NEPSAC without even playing in a actual game as of yet.
“And coach sparks for putting me in an amazing situation out here at WMA!”
Hoetzel, who transferred to Wilbraham and Monson Academy (MA) to reclassify into the 2015 class has changed his mind and plans to graduate with his original 2014 class and will sign his National Letter of Intent. The Hoosiers felt as though they were missing an elite level shooter and believe to have found one in Hoetzel.
Max Hoetzel becomes the 2nd new england prep player to commit to Tom Crean in back to back recruiting classes joining freshman stud Noah Vonleh (Haverill,MA).
