Devon Thomas Makes His Pick

Devon Thomas, a 5’11 guard from Silver Springs, MD who runs the show for Kimball Union Academy (NH), gave a verbal pledge to Missouri State.

Devon Thomas possesses terrific basketball IQ and a toughness approach to the game that’s needed for a player who stands at 5 feet – 11 inches. High major schools such as Pitt,Virginia, Maryland and Duke have all expressed interest in the lead guard after a great showing during the July evaluation period playing with Metro Boston. But dinstead of waiting it out and potentially landing a big time offer, Thomas knew the time to commit was now.

“The coaches love me. They talk highly of me and only want the best for me. Coach Lust and I had a good talk about how he is going to utilize me and play me to my strengths,” Thomas said.

Goals already have been put in place by Thomas, in terms of what he wants to see happen with the Missouri State program when he arrives on campus.

“Next year I plan on helping my team make it to NCAA tournament and possibly win it. They haven’t made it there in 13 years. So that would be a great accomplishment to achieve as a freshman,” Thomas said.

Just because Thomas is regarded as a Division 1 player, he still knows that there’s room for improvement before heading to the next level in his career.

“Also I need to work on everything. Every aspect of my game could use improvement. Nothing is perfect. And that is one thing that Coach mo, the metro Boston family and Beyond Belief, and KUA had taught me.”

Thomas joins a recruiting class that includes: 6’10 Tyler McCullough and 6’1 Austin Ruder, who will be looked at as the core group for the future of the Bears program.
