President Obama Classic

The president is using his favorite sport to raise funds for his campaign.

President Obama has team up with Michael Jordan, Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce and other professional basketball players to participate in the “Obama Classic,” the campaign announced in an email.

The e-mail asks potential donors to “imagine shooting hoops” with these and other players.

“Now stop dreaming and make it happen,” the email adds. “You and a guest of your choice could join President Obama and some of the greatest basketball stars for a special night at the Obama Classic.”

The event is Aug. 22 in New York City.

Jordan and NBA Commissioner David Stern are co-hosting a $20,000-per person fundraising dinner with the president later in the day. It should be noted that Jordan will not playing in the actual game

Other Players Participating:

Carmelo Anthony, John Wall, Kyrie Irving, Joe Johnson and former NBA and WNBA players Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, and Sheryl Swoopes along with a host of others.
