Austin Colbert Interview

Colbert is what we describe as a stud, long, active and a hard worker.  Not to mention a skill set that has developed into a top 50 national prospect in the class of 2013.   A terrific rebounder as well as a smooth stroke to go along with his array of wing moves Colbert is considered special.

Playing a major role on the critically acclaimed 2011 St. Patrick’s Basketball team that took the nation by storm and winning the “City of Palms” tournament.

St. Patrick’s has produced numerous College and NBA stars, as of recent Kyrie Irving  (Duke, Cleveland Cavaliers) “10, as well as Michael Gilchrist (Kentucky) “11.  The script was written, Colbert would follow the steps of the great players that came before him while getting a high-level education.  That all changed in April 2011 as coach Kevin Boyle decided to resign for St. Patrick and take the head coaching job at Montverde Academy (FL).

This was shock to all, Colbert was understanding as well as disappointed.  Him and his family decided it was best for him to transfer to The Hotchkiss School located in (CT).

Under the tutelage of coach Fred Benjamin, a Vanderbilt University graduate, Colbert is in good hands and looking to put a stamp on the New England area.  We caught up with Austin during Uconn’s Mid-Night madness to discuss how things are going.

“My experience at St Patrick’s was once in life time, the players I played with and the coaches that coached me were great.  I learned a lot from it and definitely took some very valuable lessons from coach Kevin Boyle and Kyrie Irving  (Duke, Cleveland Cavaliers) as well as Michael Gilchrist (Kentucky) playing along side people with very high notoriety.”
