Isaiah Washington to Minnesota

When you think of New York City point guards, Kemba Walker, Isiah Whitehead, Stephon Marbury come to mind. From the playgrounds of NYC, Division 1 college basketball to Madison Square Garden Draft night festivities.

Plug in Isiah Washington, 6-foot-1 St. Raymond’s point guard is arguably the best at his position in New York City regardless of class. The Minnesota Gophers think so also and have secured a commitment from Washington.

Washington took an official visit to the Minnesota campus over the weekend and came away impressed enough to give Head Coach Richard Pitino and staff a commitment.

Assistant coach Kimani Young, who is a former Program Director of New Heights traced back to his New York City roots and it paid off in the long run. Staying with the recruitment of Washington who has expressed the recruiting efforts of the Gophers coaching staff every time recruitment is brought up.

Isiah Washington becomes the first member to commit to the Minnesota Gophers 2017 recruiting class. Washington is most notable as of late for putting up a 36 point performance at the prestigious Under Armor Elite 24.
